Introduction

In the second half of 2022, Gaysha undertook this project to externally redecorate and repair the exterior of this Edwardian townhouse in Mayfair for a new client, and to refresh the internal decorations. The project required a quick turnaround to allow the client to begin marketing the property to potential new tenants.

Project overview

A brief description of the works involved is listed below:

  • Repairs to stone window sills
  • Repairs to wooden window frames and hardwood sills
  • Replacement of sash cords & adjustment of sash weights
  • Glazing works including renewal of window putty
  • New liquid roof covering
  • Weatherstruck repointing
  • Repairs, varnishing & rewaxing of all oak staircases
  • Redecoration of all external timber, metal and masonry
  • Internal redecoration of offices
  • New joinery including desk and teapoints
  • New carpets throughout

External redecoration and repairs

This Grade II listed townhouse was built in 1910-12, in late Queen Anne style for the Grosvenor estate. Constructed of red and brown brick with Portland stone dressings and multi-pane sash windows.

Common areas

The common areas which were redecorated, also contain these beautiful early C18 style oak staircases with turned balusters and column newels, which required repairs, varnishing and rewaxing.

Office space

The property contains four floors of office space plus the basement and attic, totalling 3,679 sq ft. The offices were redecorated, all windows repaired, new carpets fitted and floor boxes repaired.

The End Result

The end result of the project is a stunning Edwardian property, full of modern desirable office space which retains the important historic aspects of the building, particularly the stunning oak staircases. As the photos show, the redecorated property is looking amazing and we are very pleased with the end result.
